What is Dysport?
Dysport is a neuromodulator that works by blocking the release of a chemical called acetylcholine that causes the muscles to contract. When the muscles are relaxed the skin lays flat which greatly reduces the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. Neuromodulators only work in areas where lines and wrinkles are forms through consistent repetitive movement.
What areas can this treatment help?
Dysport treatable areas are the following: Wrinkles between or around eyes, wrinkles on forehead, crow’s feet, smile lines, neck or necklace lines.
How long does Dysport last?
Dysport treatments can last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. Once Dysport starts to soften you will slowly begin to see muscle movement in the treated areas again. Regular upkeep and touch ups are required to maintain the treatment effects.
How long does the treatment take?
The actual time varies case by case and depends greatly on the details of the treatment, generally, patients are in and out of the medical spa within a half hour to hour at most with no downtime.
Is the treatment painful?
Dysport is injected with small insulin needles, Dysport typically has minimal side effects and in most cases, the process is not very painful. The short lived injection site swelling and redness fades quickly.
When will I see treatment results?
Dysport takes affect within 3 to 5 days.
What information do I need to tell my injector?
Yes.Some medications such as Tylenol and other Ibuprofens can thin the blood and make the side effects of the treatment appear more severe than they actually are. Blood thinning also increases the time it would normally take to heal. Make sure to consult your doctor about any medication you are taking prior to the procedure so that the correct precautionary measure can be taken with time.
